Reading a meter.

Not all of our members are retired. An example of one who is not is the indefatigable, Irrepressible Frank Musillami. Besides his notoriety as a one-man mouse rescue squad and his prolific birdhouse construction business, he reads water meters for the City of DesPlaines.

Most people think that reading a water meter is a relatively benign activity, but they haven't reckoned with Frank, a water meter reader extra-ordinaire. He confronts the problem, literally head-on. Equipped with a neon-colored protective vest, rugged outer garments and a high-impact helmet he is ready for any eventuality. Frank barges into the toughest thickets of shrub and bramble, secure in the knowledge that the precautions he has taken will protect him from injury. The accompanying photograph depicts him in action. Water meter reader Frank is an inspiration for any youngster planning to enter the "water meter game". He epitomized the Boy Scout slogan,

"Be Prepared".
